TVA: Wheeler Dam

Built as a result of FDR's "New Deal" package during the Great Depression. This dam is one in a series of dams. It is located on the Tennessee River in North Alabama. The road that crosses the dam is HWY 101 and the county on the north side of the river is Lauderdale and the south side is Lawrence.

Top of the picture is the North end.

This end is for the production of "Hydro-electricity" and the other is a lock-system.

Welcome

Welcome to my blog about places of interest. This blog has been developed as a way to share pictures with various people about points of interest throughout the United States. At present only two regions are represented; New York and the South. These pictures depict cities, national parks, public works and historical landmarks. As this site develops, historical information will accompany the pictures. However, in an effort to post the pictures, only the location and limited information will be supplied. Have fun and enjoy our America.
